He is a FIDE Instructor and FIDE Arbiter (World Chess Federation). A former National Universities Champion & founder of Genius Chess Academy, has a current International (FIDE) rating of 2000+ (Peak 2160) with 18+ years of playing and training experience at State & National level.
He is M.A. Political Science, and sincere and hardworking Chess Teacher for intermediate and advanced players. He is favourite among his students for his coaching methods and techniques. Sandeep has more than 15 years of experience as a chess coach in reputed schools of Delhi. He has organised more than 100 tournaments for Schools, Colleges, Academies, State, National & All India Level. Under his tutelage more than 1000 students have been trained.
Asian School Champion, Common Wealth U-10 Champion GM Vaibhav Suri, former U-9 National Champion & Common Wealth Silver Medalist FM Harshal Shahi and 2nd BHEL International Tournament Champion Rishi Sardana were few of his students. He was also associated with World Youngest Grandmaster Parimarjan Negi & GM Sahaj Grover for some time. He has been associated with many top players who are playing at National level and also representing the country at International level.
Achievements as a Coach
- Coached India’s Youngest Ever Rated Player, Commonwealth Silver Medalist, former National U-9 Champion and Asian Under 10 Champion FM Harshal Shahi (2004-2007)
- Coached Asian School Champion and Commonwealth Gold Medalist GM Vaibhav Suri (2006-2009)
- Coached International Rated player and winner of 2nd BHEL Rating Tournament Rishi Sardana (2007 - 2009)
- Associated with World Youngest Grandmaster Parimarjan Negi & GM Sahaj Grover
- K.R. Mangalam World School, GK II won and secured good positions in more than 50 tournaments including winning CBSE North Zone 2010. Under his guidance, school also hosted many prestigious tournaments like National Premier Chess Championship, CBSE North Zone, and some Interschool events in 2010 (2007-2011)
- DPS, Mathura Road won many tournaments at State and National level under his coaching & guidance (2002-2006)
- Modern School, Humayun Road school team won Inter School Championships many times and also won many big tournaments, and considered as the toughest junior team in Northern India (2004-2011)
- DPS, NOIDA and Amity International School, Noida won and secured good positions in many tournaments (2003-2007)
- Genius Chess Academy under his guidance, conducted more than 100 interschool, Academy and state level tournaments (2006-2011)
- Produced many rated players like Rishi Sardana, Harshal Shahi, Vinayak Seth, Meharjot Singh, Tushar Anand, Sarthak Gupta etc
- Vantika Agrawal won Asian Schools Under 9 Girls Chess Championship in 2011. She also won Delhi State Under 11 Girls Chess Championship 2012
- Saideep Ganesh won Delhi State Under 11 Chess Championship 2012
- Mahima Gupta of Amity International, Noida won Delhi State Under 11 Chess Championship in 2006
- Priyam Chaliha won Gold In Under 12 Rapid Delhi State 2007 & Bronze in Delhi State Under 13 Girls Rapid Championship 2008
- Coached many colleges like SRCC, Zakir Husain, Dayal Singh, Hansraj, LSR which won and secured good positions in many tournaments
- Coach of Delhi University from 2000-2004
Achievements as a Player
- Amongst Delhi top players for more than 15 years
- Winner of All India Universities Chess Championship at Aurangabad (Mah)
- Won Inter-College Chess Championship four times in 1994 -95 & 1997-98
- Played and secured good positions in many international tournaments
- Represented Delhi University four times in the All India Universities Chess Championship and secured 1st, 6th, 12th and 20th positions respectively
- Won and secured good positions in many tournaments at state & national level
- Won many open tournaments conducted by Botwinnik Chess Academy
- Won more than 50 tournaments in last 10 years, and secured top 3 positions in another 100 tournaments
